One
of the year's most pleasant surprises, Something for Everyone—the
handmade, self-released debut LP from Roman Candle bassist Jeff
Crawford—is a delightful collection of pop songs that
smile and wink through autumnal sadness. Blending country warmth
with an Abbey Road accessibility, Crawford makes the sort of
pop music that feels fresh but familiar.

"Never
Set In Stone" from the upcoming release Love Is The
New Hip has been voted one of the top 35 songs of the Triangle
of 2007 in The Independent
In a series of online videos promoting his solo debut Something
for Everyone, attentive eyes could catch Beatles paraphernalia
that adorns Roman Candle bassist Jeff Crawford's home studio.
"You saw new where the old had left its mark," he
sings in his sweet, country-touched way on "Never Set in
Stone," setting up an unintentional metaphor for his new-again
pop. Like Roman Candle's portraits of daily Southern life, Crawford's
lyrics are informed by a number of things that have nothing
to do with music, like classic Westerns. Here, the layers of
handclaps, whistles and personal images merge into instant,
endearing familiarity

The musty smell of old, attic-rescued LPs begins to enter your
nostrils as you let yourself drift into the music contained
on Something for Everyone, the solo debut from Roman Candle
bassist Jeff Crawford.

"Something
for Everyone," is a solo effort...and the project proves
that he's more than ready to step out on his own as a musician.

Jeff
Crawford plays in Roman Candle, but his quaint, charming solo
material has quietly become some of the Triangle's most memorable.

The music rambles like Elliott Smith in the Figure 8 era...As
a solo debut, Something For Everyone impresses in its own, humble
way.

Where
Jeff Crawford's recorded material is laid back, soothing pop,
with Max Indian behind him, the songs were set ablaze in full
electric glory. Songs such as the country tinged "Waiting
for You" were turned from heart-felt confessionals into
impactful and impassioned pleas for salvation. Nearly every
toe in the room was tapping, with every eye and ear focused
intently on Crawford's riveting performance.
